Are Shiba Inus Good Dogs? Let’s See

All dogs are great and remarkable animals. For thousands of years, we have been living and co-existing harmoniously with dogs, and we treat them like family or best friends.

As a general rule of thumb, all dogs are considered good, and therefore, we take care of them, and we love them with all our hearts. Who wouldn’t, right?

But the question is, is there such a thing as a bad dog? According to experts, there are no bad dogs, only bad owners. I strongly agree with this.

Is There Such A Thing As “Bad Dog”?

In my opinion, dogs are innately good, but if a dog behaves badly or dangerously, then there must be valid reasons why this is so.

First, a dog could be experiencing an illness or infection, and therefore, it could behave badly or poorly towards itself or others. Second, a dog might have been traumatized, and this is the reason why it could do some harm to others. Third, a dog is not adequately trained, especially in terms of socialization; that’s why it behaves badly or dangerously towards others.

How Does A Particular Dog Become Good?

All dogs are naturally good. They wouldn’t be called man’s best friend if they’re not good, right?

Generally, dogs are friendly, intelligent, loving, loyal, concerned, trusting, and protective. There’s this saying that a dog is the only living thing that loves its owners more than itself. In my opinion, this is true.

Through proper nutrition, training, and care, dogs can become even better. They can become more intelligent, more interactive, and more admirable.

So, it’s true what they say that if the owner is right, then his/her dog will become even better. It’s always up to the owners whether they will rear their dog with a good upbringing or not.

To set this one straight, there is no such thing as a bad dog. All dogs are naturally good, and they intend to care for their human and animal companions.

Shiba Inu: Bold, Spirited, and Good

If you’re wondering if Shiba Inus are good dogs, the answer is yes. For me, the Shiba Inu is an excellent companion dog, and I charge it to my daily experience.

It was five years ago when I visited an adoption center, and there I saw a Shiba Inu puppy who looked so adorable that I decided to adopt him. I named him Hara – he’s a male Shiba Inu with a luscious cream fur.

Back then, I learned that Shiba Inus came from Japan. It’s one of the six original Japanese spitz breeds, including Akita Inu, Shikoku Ken, Kai Ken, Hokkaido Ken, and Kishu Ken.

Even though these six breeds look a bit similar to each other, they differ in size, features, and shape. The Shiba Inu is the smallest of these spitz breeds.

My dog Hara is a very healthy Shiba Inu, and I am thrilled that his vital statistics are within the average normal. He stands 16.5 inches tall, and he weighs around 10 kilograms.

The cream is not just the color of their fur. They have five other fur colors. These are sesame, black sesame, red sesame, red, and black and tan.

Beyond their proportionate body, muscular physique, and excellent physical features, Shiba Inus are also defined by their unique qualities. Since they originated from Japan, the Japanese have three words to portray the Shiba Inu.

  • Kaani-i
This means boldness and bra, very, and it is combined with mental strength and composure. Shiba Inus are rarely afraid or unsure of what to do or how to act. They are brave and they would immediately go to where they would want to go, without any hesitation. They have a clear mind, and their movements are smooth and precise. Moreover, their intelligence is genuinely admirable.
  • Soboku
This means activeness with an open and refined spirit. Shiba Inus are alert, alive, and active. It is sporadic to find them lounging or being laid back. They like being the first or being at the front. Also, they have a great spirit that radiates with confidence.
  • Ryosei
  • This means gentle disposition and good-naturedness. Shiba Inus are generally peaceful dogs, and they have good intentions toward their surroundings. If properly trained, they can grow to become highly sociable active dogs.

Based on my own experience, Hara is the embodiment of these three words because he is bold, spirited, and kind. And I am sure that all Shiba Inu owners would be as proud of their dogs as I am.

The Good Qualities of The Shiba Inu

  • They are very clean, and they are not loud.
If you like a dog who is clean and tidy, then a Shiba Inu will be the best for you. They maintain their body and spaces clean, and they only drink pure water and eat fresh food. Also, if you are living in an apartment, this dog will suit your lifestyle because it rarely barks.
  • Shiba Inus are brilliant and charming.
Tricks and lessons are all easy with a Shiba Inu. They can quickly learn their names at a young age. Moreover, they would follow the routines and instructions thoroughly. Their unique personality and temperament, mainly they are being smart and independent, are very charming.
  • They are healthy, and they have a long lifespan.
This breed is generally healthy and robust evidence in the way they act and behave. Moreover, their average lifespan is 12 to 15 years, and this only means that you’ll have a lasting relationship with them.
